For each Soap story you cover:

How well were they dealt with?
Which soaps deal with them best and why?
The village vicar, Ashley is heavily involved in life in the community. He tells off the members of the community who are competing with each other and being unpleasant at the village jumble sale.
When the villagers are in trouble (Sarah and Jack facing separation and divorce, the Dingles facing up to the death of their son, Butch, the community fighting for justice after a lorry runs out of control and crashes into the village bus) he is always involved.

Problems really arise when he falls in love with Bernice, the local publican/barmaid. One villager, Edna, makes a big fuss and calls in his boss, the Bishop. The Bishop tries to get him to move away, hoping to break the relationship. At first it seems that he will but in the end the vicar decides to stay and serve the community and stick by Bernice.
