The information below sets out the examination questions from Edexcel covering the period from 2000 - 2002. Remember that in the exam each section has two sets of questions and YOU have to choose which set of questions you are going to answer - you can not mix and match! Below I have given both questions in a, b, c & d. You will hopefully get a feel from these as to the types of questions the examiners will ask you.

State one condition for a legal abortion in the UK OR what is meant by non voluntary euthanasia?

What is meant by immortality of the soul OR what is an abortion?

2. B.) Outline a particular situation/response/problem

Outline teaching of a religion OTHER than Christianity on the sanctity of life OR outline Christian teaching on euthanasia.

2001

Outline teaching of a religion OTHER than Christianity on euthanasia OR outline different Christian teachings about life after death.

2002

Outline teaching of a religion OTHER than Christianity on abortion OR why followers of a religion OTHER than Christianity are against euthanasia

2. C.) Normally need to explain

Why do some people not believe in life after death or explain why followers of a religion OTHER than Christianity believe in life after death.

2001

Why are there different attitudes to abortion among Christians OR explain why some religious people want the law on abortion to be changed.

2002

Explain why Christians believe in life after death OR explain why followers of a religion OTHER than Christianity are against euthanasia.

2. D.) This is where you have to answer a statement looking at another point of view (religious)
and your own point of view. Always says after statement �Do you agree�

�The law on euthanasia needs to be changed� or �No religious person can agree with abortion.�

2001

�Life does not make sense unless there is life after death� or �Everyone should have the right to an easy death.�

2002

�Life belongs to God and should only be taken by God� OR �There is no evidence for life after death.�
